If you are interested in contemporary Chinese art, there’s a place you must go: 798 Art Zone. Located in the northeast suburb of Beijing, the formerly state owned factory plant has become a haven for artists from home and even abroad. The area is called the 798 Art Zone and is a home to artists and galleries alike. Artists gather here to open galleries, art studios and cafes, and hold all kinds art events, making the area the most resounding name in the artistic circle. See Photos.

Topics like this get me so ruffled that I can barely put my thoughts into words. I’m in no way a liberal, “artsy”, peace and love kind of guy. However the flip side, the conservative “holier than tho”, religious right is so blinded by their need to “fix” others, that science, fact and common sense seem to have no place in anything they do. I will let this article by Paul Rapoport, of the National Post tell you all about it. I thought America was the only psychologically uptight country when it came to sex, but it seems we’ve spread our mental disease around the globe. Bare as the day they were born
I have a photograph that I think is one of my best photos. Crying Child. Yes, it’s a child, Yes, he’s naked. But anyone who thinks it’s child pornography needs a serious look at themselves and work out some serious personal issues.. Maybe they are the one’s with impure thoughts.
In America, pornography laws are absurdly written. In essence the law is “You know it when you see it”, which leaves the actual definition of porn up in the air, free to change on a daily basis depending on who’s desk the accusation lands on. But in this case, I think it’s a fair benchmark. Nudity as a way to show innocence is so far below the “porn line” that you should know it when you see it. It’s easy to see that this photo is NOT. It seems that some people can’t wait to pass judgment without even bothering to see it. (photo on next page)

This weekend Boulder CO held it’s Art Fair stretching from 10th to 16th streets along the Pearl Street Mall, the 29th annual ArtFair features more than 170 local and national artisans. View works in a variety of media, from acrylics and watercolors to photography and fiber arts.
I personally found this show to be much better than the slightly larger and definitely more well known “Cherry Creek Art Festival” which I commented on earlier in the month. Not only was it simply a more pleasant atmosphere with street performers dotting the landscape and food vendors selling their wares in “un sanctioned” carts, but I found that the art was just so much more interesting. The Boulder Art Fair had a very large collection of photographers, which I was pleased to see. The painters and illustrators were unique and there were little to no art work with a Red Dot on a White background. “Ooooooo Ahhhhhhhhhh did you really make that dot yourself?”

I found this artist on ImageKind, which by the way is my new home for my own photos. John has a really good eye. I really love the composition of his shoots ,,,,, In particular the shots found in the Maui Gallery. I cannot say that anything in the galleries is professional quality since the lighting and post production seems to have been left to chance, but the composition is wonderful and well worth a viewing (in the Maui Gallery).
Take a moment and check out John’s work.

Imagekind.com has been acquired by CafePress.com, the recognized leader of user-generated commerce. ImageKind said last week on their community blog “We are excited to join forces with CafePress to leverage the strengths and resources of both companies as we continue to grow. We also want to let you know that we will continue to operate the business under our existing Imagekind website and brand.”
A quick browse through the Imagekind.com forums; however, does not reflect the unbridled enthusiasm. Most of the artists who sell through ImageKind did so as a conscious choice to avoid the tacky junk marketing of sites like CafePress, Zazzle and others like them.
